To commemorate this anniversary, we have launched a special series highlighting our signature programs, celebrating the partnerships that have shaped our work, and exploring new opportunities and future directions for faculty and student success.
Along the way, we will reflect on our impact, share insights from our community, and look ahead to the next decade of innovation, collaboration, and growth.

10 Years of Pedagogy - RU HIP: Turn to Your Neighbor: Peer Learning That Actually Works
Wednesday, September 16, 2026, 2:30 - 3:50 pm, Zoom
Presented by: Michael Frizell, Executive Director for Learning Assistance and the Academic Excellence Centers
We ask students to “turn to your neighbor,” work in groups, or discuss with a partner, but what turns those interactions into meaningful learning? In this interactive workshop, faculty will experience practical, evidence-based peer learning strategies that go beyond simply pairing students. We’ll explore simple ways to use peer explanation, retrieval, discussion, and problem solving to deepen learning without redesigning an entire course. Participants will leave with strategies they can put to work in their classrooms right away.
